Kevin KeenanStudent Housing Development Professional
While studying Business & Economics at the University of Arizona, Kevin realized he had a passion for Real Estate. In 2011, in a heavy foreclosure market, Kevin went to work for Trustees Sales, a national Investment and Development firm specializing in the purchasing and repositioning of foreclosed single-family properties. During this time Kevin gained extensive knowledge in foreclosed and bank owned properties, contract negotiations and repositioning strategies to maximize returns.
In 2013, Kevin shifted his focus to student housing investment & development, by joining his father, Tom Keenan, at Keenan & Company. During his tenure, he gained extensive expertise in analyzing student housing and market-rate multifamily properties, overseeing site acquisitions, financial feasibility, due diligence, and zoning & entitlements.
After the passing of his father, Kevin began overseeing all functions of the business, client related interactions, and in house investments and projects. Kevin has been involved in the closing and development of over $250 Million in student housing and multi-family assets.
Kevin resides in San Diego, CA, where he is an active volunteer with Rebuilding Together San Diego. A former Eagle Scout, he enjoys all things outdoors.
Caleb CooperStudent Housing Development Professional
Caleb Cooper is a seasoned multifamily development professional with over 15 years of experience specializing in student housing. His career began in 2009 at Davis & Sons Development, where he honed his skills in site acquisition and project management for student housing projects across the South East.
Since venturing out on his own, Caleb has successfully brokered a variety of multifamily transactions ranging from development to existing multi-family acquisitions. His main expertise extends to all aspects of student housing development.
When Caleb was asked to join the Land Hounds team, it was a natural fit for him. Having worked alongside Kevin and Roger previously on different transactions, it only made sense to join forces with like minded and capable professionals that get deals done.
Caleb’s passion for student housing stems from his understanding of the unique needs and preferences of this demographic along with the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with land owners throughout the development process . With his deep knowledge of the industry and proven track record of delivering successful multi-family housing projects, Caleb is a trusted partner looking to continually bring value to the Land Hounds Team.
Founding Principal – CEO
Roger has over 30 years of experience in the acquisition, development and management of multi-family and student housing properties throughout the U.S. After spending 5 years in the mid to late 90s acquiring, repositioning and selling approximately 1,200 multi-family units along the I-10 corridor in Louisiana which included student-competitive assets, he set his sights on the burgeoning purpose-built student housing business. From 2000- 2006 his focus was on the P3 model largely with Dallas-based, JPI. During that time a number of projects were awarded to his team but the most rewarding project was Village on the Bayou, a large student housing development located on the campus of University of Louisiana-Monroe. It has 1,038 beds and was built in phases starting in 2004 with a total Development Cost exceeding $70M. Since 2007 he’s returned to his roots of the traditional debt-equity model pursuing value-add opportunities. For two years he lead acquisitions for the Australian REIT, Campus Living Villages, where he was instrumental in deploying equity for projects with values in excess of $250MM. Since starting TEXLA in 2009, he has facilitated the acquisition of a number of projects from California (Sacramento) to Kentucky (Lexington) totaling approximately $250MM in value. Initially building the portfolio on a relationship with Harrison Street Real Estate Capital he currently has multiple projects in JVs with Dallas-based, Crow Holdings Company.
Roger holds a bachelor ’s degree in Business Administration from Louisiana State University – Shreveport.
